Progress on The Helios Protocol

Picture
Progress on The Helios Protocol has been steady and at this point we have about 15000 words written, roughly 2/3rds done.

Depends on how things go but there is a chance that the story will be completed today; will blog that as a matter of course along with the cover choice which - as usual - is proving extremely difficult to nail down, hence the completed unrelated image to the left.

It's all good fun!

The Helios Protocol ...

This is the second draft of the cover for the new instalment of The Inspector Fenchurch Mysteries, The Helios Protocol.

About 12000 words written so far and more to be put down over the course of the next couple of days ...

The plot is developing nicely with the inclusion of secret codes, the design of the first true computer, an ancient temple and a weird sect (are there any sects which aren't?), a race against time and the much anticipated confrontation between Alfred/Adam and Fulshard ... but that would all be too simple so expect the unexpected ...

And the all-important news is that the fourth title, The Helios Protocol, is underway and approx. 3500 words have so far been written.

We hope you enjoy the story and please sign up for the email newsletter to get all the news and stories which we are planning to serialise.

Draft of the cover for Stradler's Game ...

Still looks like Stradler's Game will be out by the end of July, maybe a little sooner. Alp spent the week hunting down images and I have been researching the island of Malta which is where book 4, The Helios Protocol, is set.

The Helios Protocol will bring the current plot line to a natural conclusion and then we plan to take Alfred and Adam back to England (with the new Lancia Astura!!), for a case a little like The Blakely Affair (working title The Fanshawe Scroll) set on the Isle of Wight; with a sixth story set on Jersey (no title yet).

The Helios Protocol

Stradler's Game reached the stage of the first complete draft last night; so we are definitely on track for a end-of-month publication as long as all goes well with the editing.  The stories are getting longer and longer, becoming more intricate and slower to write. Now I understand why Chambers only writes the Zac series; basically because it demands so much concentration; especially when you're a thousand pages into a series as he is with Zac right now.

The next story, working title is something like The Helios Protocol (Chambers controls these things so I'm sneaking a peek at his notepad), is kind of a wrap up of the story so far; bringing it full circle so to speak with, for example, the resolution of who was behind the death of Argos and Martin Saverne ... a wrap up not least because at some point Fenchurch and Cowley need to go to Bristol and do their day job.

The Inspector Fenchurch Mysteries will embrace, we hope, a wider range of 'detective/mystery/international crime/spy' possibilities. Intriguingly, both Chambers and I have read the biography of Aleister Crowley and when the template for a character in The Helios Protocol was required, we both cited Aleister Crowley ... spooky.

Apparently, I can't go home yet ... not until the Tour de France has passed by the house (it passed through my home village of Servance yesterday and I wasn't there to see it).

Have a great day wherever you are!

Black Veil edges towards publication

Book 2 of the series, 'Black Veil' has just been completed and is being prepared for the editing process. Would expect to see it on the shelf by 16th of July latest.

Book 3 has already been started and has a title; 'Stradler's Game', but no cover yet.

To answer a question from a couple of people, the series will be made available in paperback; sets of six stories is what we are thinking at the moment.

Thank you for all the wonderful feedback we have received on The Blakely Affair.

In the beginning ...

The Carter Seagrove Project is our creative brainchild.  We are the authors Alp Mortal and Chambers Mars.  In May/June 2014, we collaborated on a writing project which culminated in the publication of the novel 'Dust Jacket'. Within the pages of 'Dust Jacket' it was necessary, at one point, to refer to a book on a library shelf; we simply conjured a title and an author's name out of the ether; Carter Seagrove was the name of the fictitious author and the name of the book was 'The Blakely Affair'.

A good pal then suggested that we actually write The Blakely Affair as Carter Seagrove ... which is exactly what we did. The Blakely Affair by Carter Seagrove was published at the end of June 2014.

The Blakely Affair is a murder mystery which introduces the characters of Inspector Adam Fenchurch and PC Adam Cowley; our crime busting duo who also just happen to be madly in love with each other.

Having created these characters and having published one story, we decided to write a series of short stories featuring Fenchurch and Cowley. The series is entitled The Inspector Fenchurch Mysteries.

The next Inspector Fenchurch Mystery is entitled Black Veil and we expect to publish the story in the first half of July 2014.
